Aloha Friday #19

Each Friday, Kailani, over at http://www.islandlife808.com/ hosts a wonderful meme called Aloha Friday. It's the end of the week, a chance to relax and get ready for the weekend. To celebrate Aloha Friday, you ask a question and answer others' questions.

My question for this week:

Does your child like to read? If your child is too young to read, what about when you were young, did you enjoy reading?

I don't think I enjoyed reading until I was out of high school actually. And then I began loving it and still do.

Audrey :)

I have two children & one is definitely NOT a reader while the younger one reads 3 books @ once & she's only 7!

As for me? I have always been a voracious reader. I love that we finally have a space to put out all of our books.

My oldest wasn't much of a reader but her younger sister was. As a child I read ALL THE TIME! I was also part of a book club and got a new book in the mail every month. It was a treat for me!

My kids love to read! My son can actually read for real, and my daughter has liked to sit next to the bookshelf and "read" out loud to herself since before she was a year old!

My kids are readers. My oldest daughter is the best reader though. The youngest like it for a few minutes...it's a start.

I was an avid reader as a kid. A book a day type kid.

Both my boys can't get enough of books but they are still only 3 and 1. As a kid I LOVED books. I read early, was in advance reading and read a lot of books all through my school years. I still love to read but sometimes it is hard to find the time! I always hopd to pass this same love on to my children but it hasn't been hard. They naturally love books too it seems.

Last night we had open house for my son in first grade. Outside the classroom was a monkey with each child's name on it. The monkey had banana bunches that represented the number of books each child has read. My son had 82 books thanks to reading with the summer library program. Reading is huge in our family and I wish I had loved it this much when I was little. Both of my boys find books to be the best "toys" and entertainment. Of course, I am very proud as a teacher with my Masters Degree in Reading!

I loved to read and my daughter is following in my footsteps. She cannot read yet, but makes up stories to go along with the pictures. She is on her way to reading. She knows her letters and is learning all the sounds they make.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Friday!

My son loves to read! I am so happy that he caught the reading bug. Now that he plays video games, sometimes I have to nudge him back into reading more. But he enjoys it!

My kids all like to read. The middle child particularly. My challenge right now is to find stuff my 13 year old son will like that isn't too "grown up" for him! thanks for stopping by my blog today.

My son is just learning to read. When he has something of interest he will carry a book around with him everywhere. I was not one who like to read and I don't want my son to be that way so I am doing all I can to encourage him.

Both my kids love books. They are 3 yrs and 20 months old so they don't read....YET! They've always had books around them just as I did as a child. I was a big reader back in elementary school and still am today.........just wish I had more time for it nowadays!

Well, sometimes he likes when I read to him, others not so much! But then again, he is only 7 months!
I hope he loves to read like I do!

I loved to read as a child (and still do) and fortunately my daughter is also an avid reader (at age 6). My son is taking a bit longer but he finally started showing an interest in books in the past year -- so there is hope for him yet :-)

My kids don't yet know how to read, but they love to be read to and hound me for such times.

I've always loved to read. It was my escape growing up in the orphanage. I don't get to do it as much as I'd like now, but still LOVE reading .

My son is too young to read but I will be reading to him soon so that he can enjoy where books can take him. When I was young, I loved to read. I would get lost in the pages imagining be there. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

My daughter loves to read. In fact, I told her I'd take her anywhere she wanted to go over the weekend and she chose the library.

i have two college kids and they both enjoy reading, for which i am so thankful.

my daughter struggled with reading in her early years and therefor never wanted to read. when she was in 7th grade, a friend gave her a nicholas sparks book and that started her love of books.

i've always been a reader.

I have always went in spurts. I always enjoy reading, I just don't always make time to read. My daughter hopefully will like to read as well, she likes looking at books even at her young age, and especially tasting them! :)

I certainly wish they enjoyed it more!
