Aloha Friday

Kailani over at http://islandlife808.com/ hosts an Aloha Friday each week. Aloha Friday is where you post a question once a week that readers can answer. I have found so many awesome blogs through her site.

Right now, my mom is pretty sick and my daughter is staying with her, helping her out. I am so fortunate that my daughters have such a special relationship with my mom.

So my question this week is:

What type of relationship do your children have with their grandparents, or what type of relationship do/did you have with your own grandparents?

Audrey :)

My parents live in another state, and they do make an effort to come up or have us come to them several times a year. I think it is difficult when the grandparents are far away to have a very deeply connected relationship, although my kids really love their grandparents. My husband's parents live with 30 minutes and the kids get to see them more often. But honestly, I think the kids would like the grandparents to be more involved. Kids always love the extra love and attention that grandparents can give!

To much favoritism. They barely see their grandparents. One lives 5 mins. away and the other 15 mins. away. I know it's a shame and it makes me mad.

My daughter's are very close to my parents and pretty close to my mother in law. They have only seen my father in law a few times. He really isn't very close to any of the family. It is unfortunate.

Well, my parents live in a neighboring state, but my son was raised living less than a mile from them. So, he still talks to them daily and they are fairly close. But, my husband's parents live in a different country and speak a different language, so their relationship isn't as close as should be. However, we try to translate and let them still conversate. And, he'll get to spend a month with them this summer.

A great one... thankfully! I was never close to my grandmas. I'm glad my daughter can have the experiences I never got!

My girls love both sets of Grandparents. My Mom lives in FL & we are in NC. My oldest is going to spend a week down there, alone for the first time, in June. They love going to their other Grandparent's house, they live about 30 mins from us.

My kids adore my mother! My hubbys parents live in Florida(we are in NY) so thats hard. My son was very close to his grandpa as a baby when we lived in Florida. And they love my dad. Very close with all of them I'd say.

My kids love their grandparents. They are close with my parents. My husband's parents live in Australia, so we don't see them very often.

I used to live with my grandparents on my mom's side when I was little so I feel like they are second parents. My grandma on my dad's side was always on the older side so our relationship mostly consisted of playing various games and not so much talking. I am lucky :)

My parents practically live around the corner from us. We are very close to them. They actually just went with us on our trip to Disney World. We are not nearly as close to my husband's parents. The boys have seen them a handful of times. It is sad since they feel that their dog is more important than their grandchildren.

My grandparents are very special.. I love and respect them..incredibly. My kids grandparents both live in different states. My kids have more a relationship with one set of grandparents over the other.. Guess that is the way it works sometimes.

Happily, my kids have a great relationship with both sets of grandparents. And we are lucky to have one set 15 mins away and the other only 2 hours away.

I had a great relationship with my grandparents. Unfortunately Hubby and I have a difficult rellationship with his parents and that makes it hard for the kids to have a good relationship and my family is far away.

My kids are really close to my mom. But on their Dad's side their grandfather lives in Florida and we are in Cali so they don't really have a relationship with him. I was really close with my grandmother before she passed and I am still close with my grandfather,he lives about 5mins. away. (both on my mom side)

I'm not close with either set of my grandparents.....I wouldn't even recognize my grandfather if I saw him. My kids are incredibly close with all their grandparents :)

No children. My relationships are good but I don't see any of my grandparents very often.

I saw my grandparents 1-2 times a year. My kids see my husband's parents 4-5 times a year and mine 3-4 times a year. So it's a little better for them. I wish my kids were closer to my parents, but they live farther away.

I had a good relationship with one set of grandparents and didn't really know the other set...and Marlee is too little to have a relationship really with her grandparents...

Actually, pretty distant which is really sad considering they only live 20 minutes away.

My parents are the best grandparents. We live really close so we see each other at least 5 times a week. His parents live close by but are busy with their own lives and their teenage children. The kids love them both though
