Eating At the Table

Do you and your family have meals at the table? "Experts" list many reasons why this is the healthier choice. One reason is that people, both children and adults tend to eat less and eat healthier while at the table. Snacks or meals on the go tend to be higher calorie and we eat more as we're feeling rushed.

I've always tried to have dinner at the table, but we don't usually have other meals or snacks at the table. What about you?

We always ate at the dinner table when I was growing up. So did my husband's family. And we mostly do that as a family. Although, I admit, it isn't very relaxing for me to sit and eat with all my kids. I'd rather just take my plate and go upstairs and eat while I read. But the table time is very important for our family. And the kids eat all their meals at the table.

We also make it a point to eat together. It is hard when my son is playing high school sports. Those times of the year we might only eat three or four time a week together. But he's the only one missing. Everyone else is there. No snacks at table.

We almost always eat at the dinner table. In fact, when I decide not to, my 3 year old puts up a big fuss saying "We have to eat at the table!"

The only meal that we eat together is when we go out to eat. Now that my kids are older and can stay home alone - we have not even ate together at a restaurant in quite a while.

I normally only have dinner at the table...but dinner is also the only meal where I have "unlimited" food. My breakfasts and lunches are very "set" amounts of food.

I'm starting to get terrible about this. I eat while watching tv. I know it's wrong! However, if everyone is home, we eat together at the table.

When our kids were younger, it seems we were rarely home for diner. Someone always had a game or a swim meet or something. We ate on the fly a lot back then.

Now it's just the two of us and we take our dinner into the living room and eat, chat and play Wheel of Fortune!! HAHA!
