Aloha Friday #5

Kailani over at http://islandlife808.com/ runs an Aloha Friday. It's so fun to visit blogs and answer all the great questions.

My question to all of you today is:

Do you allow your kids to chew gum? If you don't yet have kids, were you allowed to chew gum at home when you were child?

Audrey :)

My oldest is three and we haven't let him chew gum yet. My husband can't stand noisy gum chewing so I have a feeling it will be quite a while before he's introduced to it.

My kids love love love gum. I only buy sugar free with xytol (I think I spelled that wrong). As long as they don't swallow it and put it in the trash I let them chew it. But I try not to let them have more than 2 pieces in one day.

My oldest who is 4, chew's gum sometimes, but not that often, mainly b/c he end's up swallowing it. My other 2 who are younger, have no interest in gum yet.

i don't allow it, but my boys sneak it. i think the fact that i don't allow it, makes it even more tempting!

Just like when I was growing up, I let my girls chew gum so long as they chewed with your mouth closed and put it in the trash when they no longer wanted it.

Brea is only 21 months so she doesn't chew gum now. I will let her when she gets a little older as long as she doesn't make a mess with it!

My kids don't chew gum. I think part of the reason is because neither my husband or myself are big gum chewers and we don't have it in the house much. When we do, they get to chew it, and boy do they ever! They go through it really fast.

My oldest who is 8.5 years old just recently got to start chewing gum.

I chewed gum as a kid and my teens occasionally chew gum.

My son is allowed to chew gum. He had some last summer after his 5th birthday. He does not chew it long or often. At school they have Gum chewing Thursday for one of the children in his class that needs it for therapy. He tolerates it, but is not into chewing like I am.

My son is only 1, so that would be a no - but I won't let him chew it until he's older.

my teenager does but i didnt start letting her til she was around 12. she only chews orbit which is sugar free. if she ever started getting obnoxious with it tho, i'd revoke her right to chew!

My child is too young for gum (she's only 10 months), but I'm sure I will let her chew gum from time to time when she's old enough.

My daughter loves gum. That is the one thing she consistently disobeys me about--she will try to sneak extra pieces out of her fathers desk lol. So, I give it to her sparingly!

Yes, but no to the chewy taffy type candies.

I do let them, as long as they are good about making sure it goes into the trash when they are done!

I don't anymore! It gets everywhere.

My girls are 5 and 3, and they've never had gum. I'm not sure when we will let them try it.

My daughter is 24 and I did allow her to chew gum. She never really chewed it alot only occasionally. That was her choice to do that.

I had lots of gum when I was a child. My daughter is 3.5 and hasn't had any yet. I have a personal aversion to watching and listening to people chewing gum, so it's not something I'm anxious to introduce any time soon.

Yes, my kids chew gum sometimes

I can't remember when I first chewed gum. I do not let Jake chew it only because he's still little and won't get the idea of chewing and not swallowing.

I loathe chewed gum stuck in hair, in the carpet and on the furniture....I guess that a NO however I would never try and say they never did. LOL

My boys go through gum like it was going out of style. My daughter, not so much.

I don't remember my childhood. *lol* But I'm pretty sure gum was a rare treat for my brother and me.
